This Year's Model Updates:

In an attempt to revive Monte Carlo's performance image, Chevrolet adds a supercharged SS version for 2004. The LS gets new 17-inch aluminum wheels, and there are a couple new appearance packages, Sport and Winner's Circle, available on the LS and non-supercharged SS.

Pros:
  • Spacious interior, low sticker price, strong acceleration with supercharged V6.
Cons:
  • Mediocre performance on non-supercharged models, bland interior with cheap materials, no passenger side-impact airbag.

  • 04 Monte Carlo is a pleasant surprise - 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

I bought this car as a "work" car due to driving so much for my job. I liked the styling and the price, so i bought her. She had 70,000 on her when i brought her home. I have had no problems with this car. Routine maintenance and a set of tires. She now has 126,000 miles and I am noticing a squeeking noise coming from my front left tire. Its probably a wheel bearing, not surprising at all. Not a big deal. This car has tons of power and gets about 27 MPG average. I cant ask for more from a car that is 8 years old and has 126,000 miles. Chevy really screwed up when they stopped making this gem. Get rid of the freaking Impala and start making the Monte again.

  • 2004 Intimidator SS - 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Got 42K to date on my Intimidator. I am its only owner. Seen my 1st one at Daytona 04 after watching Dale Jr win the 500. Flew home the following wednesday, was online saturday, at the dealership on sunday, drove her home on Monday....Isnt that was NASCAR WAS ABOUT??? Always wanted one since 86, took me a while but I got her. Love the car and the way it looks. She still turns heads today!!! My father eventually traded his LS for a SS and we love em.

  • Fine with me - 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

My 2003 Monte Carlo LS in Superior Blue Metallic is a people-stopper with its beautiful exterior lines. The interior could have used more style, but its comfortable enough. So far, I love the car. Some review called it a "flashback," but not in a positive way. I like it because it is a flash back to when cars had style and personality instead of all looking alike.

  • Monte needs an 8 - 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Love this car but it needs a V-8 with rear wheel drive!

  • A very good car - 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

I bought my car new. I have driven it 68000 miles. I have never had any problems with it, and I get very good gas mileage. It still looks new inside and out, and I hope to drive it another 5 or 6 years. For a Chevrolet, I think it is a very good product.

  • Montes worth the look - 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
    By -

I purchased a standard 3.8l SS last year, and the car has been everything I would have expected out of a $28,000 car. Acceptable performance, good handling, great sound system, and trouble free driving. Fuel economy regularly exceeds the rated 29 highway. Body style is regularly commented on in a positive light. This car has the ground effects package, everything is black on black.

  • Ignore the "experts"... a GERAT value. - 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
    By -

Ignore what the "experts" write. This car is a GREAT value, with a large comfortable interior [Im 62"], quiet ride, satisfactory acceleration/ performance [not as if Im drag racing on I-95 too often], and plenty of creature comforts [I particularly appreciate the on-the-wheel stereo and cruise controls]. Obviously, styling is a personal preference, but I think the car looks sharp outside AND especially inside. My only significant complaint is the rattles that the service department has not solved. I STILL ENJOY GETTING INTO AND DRIVING MY CAR EVERY TIME.

  • 2004 vs 2000 - 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
    By -

I have purchased 2 SS Montes and while I have loved them both, I need to ask why GM cheapened it in 2004. I did a favor for my inlaws and passed along my 2000 SS with only 31000 and ordered my 2004 expecting it to be identical, boy was I surprised. GM removed the gear selection from the console, took out the glove box light, did away with the coin holder, and took off the "Monte Carlo" emblems from the side. And what is up with all of the mirrors being black except on the yellow paint. I love my SS, but I cant believe that GM removed some of the "nice to have" items to gain a few bucks, shame on you.
